Prefer square JPG/PNG crops. New images appear in Edit profile on TV and in Account → Profile on web.

The homepage is built by the /home edge function from each viewer’s watch history,
likes, My List, and show metadata (tags, themes, tone, categories, curated similar IDs).
Below is how that shows up on the page — use this when deciding what to flag in Catalog.
Taste signal means any of: Continue Watching, solid watch progress, a completed show, a liked show, something on My List, or a recent banner/preview open. Brand-new profiles get the catalog layout instead (Newly Released, Trending, Staff Picks, All Content).
Personalized homes reorder category / theme rails by engagement for that viewer profile. Switching accounts or profiles should change which category rails sit higher.
Strong bump for that show’s primary category (+5). Completing a show counts as 100%.
Smaller category bump (+1.5). Also helps “taste signal” so the home leaves cold-start mode.
Big category bump (+10) and affinity boost so similar shows / rails float higher. Thumbs-down soft-penalizes.
Extra category bump (+3) for shows the viewer talked about.
Liked / heavily watched shows first, then affinity match (tags, themes, tone, similar IDs).
Only on the Trending Now rail — separate from category ranking. Category rails use engagement points, not those badges.
If two profiles look identical on home, they’re either both in catalog / cold-start (no watch / like / list signal yet), or the personalized feed client failed to load. With ranking working, an alt that watched & liked different shows should see different category rail order and For You picks.
Up to 5 slides taken from the viewer’s strongest category rails (shows they haven’t finished watching). If that pool is empty, editorial “added to hero” episodes are used instead.
In-progress episodes for this profile. “Finish these” items can fold into the same rail. Highest priority row on a personalized home.
Shows the viewer explicitly saved. Also counts as a taste signal even if they haven’t watched yet.
Picks similar to Continue Watching / finished shows using curated similar show IDs first, then shared themes, tags, and tone. Skips anything already in progress or completed.
Shows the viewer thumbs-up’d on the show modal. Those likes also bump category ranking and affinity (same family as episode likes).
Primary categories ranked by this viewer’s engagement (watch depth + likes + comments). Heavier engagement → rail sits higher among personalized rows.
Shows opened via preview in the last ~24h that weren’t substantially watched — a gentle nudge back.
Newest episodes by release date (max 5). Shown as episode cards (title + show + S/E), not show posters.
Popular shows (ranked badges). Falls back toward staff picks if popular data is thin.
Only shows with the Catalog Staff pick flag. Order follows staff pick order. Same episode-card styling as Newly Released when episodes are attached.
Removed from the home rails. Finished shows still get a Watch again CTA inside the show modal when every episode is complete.
Power For You and affinity scoring. Prefer specific themes over generic ones.
Strongest For You boost (+ curated). Set these when two shows clearly belong together.
Drive category rails and often the hero carousel pool.
Puts the show on Staff Picks for everyone (personalized and cold-start).
“Added to hero” is the editorial fallback when category heroes can’t be built.
Controls Newly Released ordering — not the show’s created_at.
A show usually appears in at most two personalized rows so the page doesn’t feel repetitive. Continue Watching / My List / Staff Picks are exempt from that “already shown” squeeze where noted in the feed builder.
